North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim and his staff, took a bicycle ride along the route from the North Jakarta Mayor's Office to the JICT II Pier, Tanjung Priok Port, on Thursday (6/3). This cycling activity was held to commemorate World Bicycle Day, which is celebrated every June 3.

It was participated by Tanjung Priok Sub-district Head, Syamsul Hud, Tanjung Priok Urban Village Head, Ma'mun and other staffs.
"We're doing this to enforce the Governor and City Secretary's instruction. This is a movement and an example that walking and cycling are the main modes compared to private vehicles so that they can be used as a means of daily transportation," he expressed.

In North Jakarta, there was already a bike lane but it was still not connected to a single lane with other administrative city areas.
"This is because irregular container activities at a number of points can endanger cyclists if they are on the same road with large vehicles," he explained.
Nevertheless, his party was continuously encouraging the community to get used to using public transportation or bicycles to support daily activities.
"If the office to your home is quite far, please use public transportation facilitated by the local government or cycling when monitoring the area," he uttered.
